This course is designed to introduce graduate students to understand the role of insects in the natural ecosystem and their significance in agriculture. But the emphasis of this course will be on insect morphology and physiology, insect ecology and behavior as well as explore their classification up to the Order level and beyond Order level of several members of common Orders. By the end of this course students should be able to recognize common insects and the many important ways they affect human life. This course provides a foundation to equip students for careers in agriculture, pest management and biodiversity conservation.
