This course provides an overview of fundamental knowledge in food and nutrition. Students will learn about dietary guidelines and healthy eating, food composition including the six classes of nutrients. They will get knowledge about metabolism of food. Further, students will get hands on experience on analysis of proximate composition of food material and they will be able to apply knowledge gained during the course to estimate energy requirements and assess diet quality of individuals.
